Build in public

Build log

Real milestones, real dates, from the working logs. Newest first. No ship dates here — discipline over hurry.

Concept-first mandate locked

Decision ratified at the founder level: build the concept and its public narrative fully before raising outside capital. The internal command center graded as the strongest current surface. This site exists because of this decision.

Kehrn V0 command center shipped internally

First dogfood surface: a command center that renders live from the company's own memory corpus, with the canonical locked-decisions ledger as its single source of truth — a deliberate proof that the view cannot drift from the record. Re-skinned same week to the neutral-dominant design standard.

Temporal validator + contradiction checker shipped

Two new substrate tools: a temporal validator whose smoke test passes the canonical “3 weeks vs 3 days” fabrication case, and a first-pass contradiction checker that surfaced twenty candidate conflicts on its first dry run against a live corpus. A pre-commit hook now blocks non-compliant writes.

Frontmatter linter + link auditor shipped; product vision locked

The first two substrate tools landed: a schema linter and a link auditor for the memory corpus — which immediately surfaced 368 legacy files failing schema, the expected and honest baseline for the backfill queue. The same day, a 90-minute strategy session locked the Phase 1+ product vision and the positioning line: Kehrn — THE Kernel of Truth for your agentic business.

Substrate specs locked — day one of the build

Three foundational specifications written and locked: the frontmatter schema (provenance, confidence, supersedes on every record), link conventions for the semantic graph, and the contradiction-inbox format.

Project seeded and named

The architecture was formulated — a plain-markdown substrate with six layers above it, up to the organizational command center — after a prior-art scan across the agentic-memory and knowledge-platform landscape found that every component exists somewhere and nobody has composed them. The name Kehrn was locked the same night: one syllable, phonetic by design, after the stone markers built so the next traveler can find the way.

Earlier still: the memory methodology itself went from concept to seven active Springs in three days (2026-05-04 → 2026-05-06) — that story is told in the working paper.
